Baby Diver

These are selected images from my upcoming book, Baby Diver. This project is incredibly special to me. Being part Korean, I’ve always sought out Korean stories and culture in children’s literature, but when I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I decided to create it myself. I chose to feature the haenyeo, the female divers of Korea, because these remarkable women, while uniquely Korean, embody universal themes of sisterhood, community, and family. My story blends these universal themes with a distinctive cultural backdrop. I hope this book helps people learn more about the history and beauty of this Korean tradition and allows children (and adults) everywhere to see themselves in a story about belonging.
